whatever foots your loops

director & photographer
AGENCY: EDELMAN

I was the one-stop shop for this entire project— I was the director, the director of photography, and the still photographer. I shot it in a tiny studio space on sweeps and a green screen in a short span of 2 days. To get the most out of our small budget, actors were scheduled in short, 10 minute slots. There was a lot on me to explain the concept to each of them, get their energy up, and work through our required shot list along with plenty of improvised extras. Because the music track hadn’t been selected, I wanted to give the editor as many choices as possible.

With the images, my biggest challenges were reflections and shadows since sunglasses don’t sit flat. I ended up shooting a clean plate of the lenses to be comp'ed in later to make life a little easier, but I still needed to make sure any glares on the sunglasses themselves were even and pleasing. I worked through the shot list as given by the agency and then also went back and shot plenty of alt options whenever we had everything all setup.
