Every now and then, I pinch myself to remember that someone’s paying me for this— and this shoot was one of those days. As a huge women’s soccer fan, it was a pleasure to work on a World Cup pregame analysis series with Chicago Red Stars coach (and former Illini) Ella Masar. Our location was loft space with a ton of windows. We decided to use the depth of the room to add some character and keyed with a 600D + lantern passing through a silk. We also added a tube light as an edge to pop her out from the deep background and a few LED fresnels mimicking beams of light to give us some shapes and shadows. This setup was simply the DP, director, and myself.
